Pre-race routine:

Helped set up transition the night before. Luckily we had good helpers and got finished in record time.
Event warmup:

Short spin on the bike out to CR 3 and back. Jogged up to Main St and back. Decent warm-up for me.

What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I guess. Running is tough and I just try to keep it steady.
Transition 1

Comments:

Good T1. Small T area helped, but this is quick for me.

I passed a lot of people and had a great ride. Kelly O. passed me on the hill and gave me a new mission-- to catch him on CR 5. And I did. He's a better climber, but I am faster downhill. I caught him on 5 and was gone. What a fun ride!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. After we turned off of CR 3, I passed about 5 people. They were slowing down to come back into town, but I knew there was at least a mile to go.
Transition 2

Another good T.

It started to get hot out there. I just chugged along doing my thing. Lots of people passed me. Passed no one. With about 3/4 mile to go, I heard someone breathing loudly behind me. Kelly! Dammit. I yelled back to him for Garmin info on where we were. I knew that I couldn't hold him off with that much ground to go. He beat me by 7 seconds overall. Bah!
What would you do differently?:

Did I go out too hard on the bike and cook my legs for the second run? Maybe. Would it have made much difference? Probably not.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a Gatorade and walked a bit. Then started helping to get the podium (that we made) put together for the awards ceremony. Jeremy got 2nd in his AG and got to stand on our podium. Very cool!

Event comments:

Great venue for Treadman! Had a great time.
