Swim
Comments: Timing mat was beside lane 8 and you were called when a lane opened up at which time you walk across the mat and to your lane- no running on the deck! :) To finish swim time- exit at shallow end and walk to exit where there was the second mat. What would you do differently?: Relax, relax, relax. :) Focus on roll and gliding after the catch phase. Transition 1
Comments: Had a few troubles getting the left shoe clipped in but I was very happy to have the toe covers on the shoe and even with the first strap done up, I didn't have any troubles getting them on. What would you do differently?: Be aware of any potential water issues and perhaps leave clothes in bin or on bike as snow runoff fully soaked my towel, tights and gloves. Luckily my socks were in my shoes, shirt on bike and vest and jacket in bin. Bike
Comments: Felt great on the ride though I could probably be a bit more aggressive on the turns- but best to be conservative with the gravel. What would you do differently?: More to drink!! Transition 2
Comments: Felt quick though need a bit more practice with the Yanks- they went on great but I forgot to tighten them until a few metres out of transition- oops. :) Changed shoes/ helmet and toque off/and run cap on. T1 and T2 Time built into bike time Run
Comments: While it was a tough push, it felt great! :) Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Nerves and difficulty with swim, figuring out what to do with wet tights :), possibly evaluating my nutrition Event comments: Great for first timers particularly with swimming in your own lane! Lots of fantastic volunteers, well organized and very supportive athletes with everyone cheering each other on. Fairly obvious where I need to improve... :) 144th swim/77th bike/9th run Suggestions that I made on the survey: - allow an opportunity to change 500m swim time at check in (the swim groups were based on the estimated swim times given at sign up waaaaaay back in December so seeing as many participants were first timers we were all pretty clueless about what times to give) - have someone at the finish line taking the chip off the racers (I am surprised that no one fell over as the volunteers at the end asked for the chip when you crossed the finish line) - more food...After finishing, I cheered then showered and changed before making my way up and missed out on most of the food laid out- only pasta salad- good thing it was yummy! - earlier placement of volunteers on course (a fellow member of the tri club was the first runner on course but the volunteers were not all in place and he took a wrong turn which voided his 2nd place finish that he likely would have had even with the added time) Last updated: 2008-12-22 12:00 AM

Just tried to remain calm... BK was PB and banana on toast at 7:30 but seeing as my heat didn't go until 12:00, I could have used more food. I did grab a Lara bar from dh for 11:00.
