Run
Comments: Very happy with my performance today. Targeted a 1:47 finish and did 2-3 min better than that for a new PR. Took pace out a slight bit faster than I wanted, but held back to let all the 10k runners past, maintaining a 8:00+ pace. Dropped pace by 10sec at Mile 5 and then at Mile 9. Slow miles included the monster hills of the course, and it still wasn't too bad pace-wise. Some back tightness until Mile 4. Right outside part of knee discomfort throughout race, although not painful until afterwards - need to work on more IT stretching prior to runs going forward. Overall, a good day. What would you do differently?: Stretch a bit better to loosen left IT band. Run pace was just about on...would have taken it a little harder on the hill miles. Post race
Warm down: Light jog, static stretches and lots of water, carbs, and high protein lunch. What limited your ability to perform faster: HR...I was pretty much pegged the last 4 miles. Legs had more in them. Event comments: A good race. The course was well-policed and organized. Well-run water stations. Post race expo had a good band, but seemed really limited, given the size of the overall race. Last updated: 2008-12-23 12:00 AM

Up early at 5am for breakfast - banana, juice, water, english muffin. Arrived at race site at 7am.
Static and dynamic stretching followed by 2mi run in HRZ1-2 with 2 race pace pickups. Timed run well, finishing warmup 10 minutes prior to race start.
