Pre-race routine:

Found a great parking spot and ran the mile to the start. Got help getting over the barrier by some nice ladies who asked if I was Irish and I just said, why yes I am! Good day! I am such an arse!
Event warmup:

The 1 mile run to the start.

  • 48m 1s

  • 12m  min/mile
Comments:

Friggin SNOWING! Freezing my arse off and running uphill YET I was not warming up!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Well I have been having issues with a groin injury so I decided it be best to run some, walk some. Worked well. No pain.
Post race
Warm down:

I have honestly never been this cold in my life.Every article of clothing I had on was sticking to my body. I passed on the beer tent as I didn't bring my ID with me. Kind of deliberate to be honest with you but I wouldn't have gone even if I did have it as I was just far too cold. I went into a coffee shop where there were a handful of runners and the lady in front of me felt sorry for me having only $4 so she bought my coffee :) How nice is that? Jogged/walked back to my car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injury, undertrained. Haven't been running as much and I'm only slowly getting back into it.

Event comments:

I have to say that the whole crossing the finish line/removal of timing chip was a disaster! Such a confined space for all these runners who are expect to remove the chip themselves. It was just MOBBED and the funniest thing is the amount of steam coming from people made it look amazing!!! Really. Wish I'd had my camera with me.

AND last night I watched Komo4 and caught a glimpse of myself at the turnaround looking very much worse for wear! LOL
