Swim
Comments: So I am still squeamish of these open water starts. I hate having contact on the swim so I lined up to the middle-back and outside, and ended up swimming Very wide. I kept swimming up on one girls back ... whoops! Also, I just have to mention that everyone complained their times were a min or so slower than last year, so it Had to be a little long. My goal was seven minutes so there ya go. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive about getting in the thick of things so I wouldn't have to swim extra. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: This was very interesting. They lined up the waves in order of age, oldest to youngest. This is also a popular beginner race so I think some people just did not know the rules. They were riding four and five wide in one lane of the road! So it was interesting trying to pass. I must say that it ws so awesome and inspirational to see so many first timers of all ages, shapes, and sizes out there! I probably passed at least 150 folks. There was one girl that I kept trading places with who passed me in the end from my age group. What would you do differently?: Overall I was pretty happy with my bike. I definitely felt like my harder cycling wos lately are starting to pay off. Now I need some "aero gear" to give me that extra push! Transition 2
Run
Comments: So this was a hot and hilly jaunt to downtown acworth. There were a few significant hills at the beginning which got my hr spiked right away. I did my usual counting people as I passed them. I passed the girl who dusted me on the bike near the beginning of the run (from my ag) and saw that she wasn't going to be able to follow me. I told myself that I would really pick it up after the first two miles. At about mile 2 I saw another girl from my age group who looked pretty strong. I passed her and tried to look like I wasn't dying (which I was). Fortunately, she didn't follow me. With my watch saying just over three miles, I couldn't hardly keep the pace any longer. I did sharp turn and suddenly the finish was right there! My goal was to see if I could pass 100 people total on the run and I managed to get there right at the end. What would you do differently?: It was a little slower than I wanted but I wasn't going to complain. My foot has been bothering my so I have cut way down on running the past two weeks. Post race
Warm down: Hung out with the other atcers who all ended up finishing around the same time and did really great too! We ended up staying for the awards which weren't held for another 2 plus hours! That is my only negative critique. The swag and the awards were awesome and I ended up 6th overall and 1st in age group. Event comments: This race was great. The food, the volunteers, the awards and everything else were Awesome! The Only thing was the finish being held in a diff place from the start and the lack of transport from one to the other. My hub ended up missing the finish and after the awards we all had to walk twoish miles back. bummer. Last updated: 2008-12-30 12:00 AM

We drove up about 5 AM. I was so excited John was coming with me to cheer me and the other ATCers on. Fortunately, Acworth isn't too far away so it wasn't Too early (which to me, means having to get up before 4 something!)
Did'nt have much time, jogged for about half a mile and swam 100 yards or so.
