Comments:

YEA! I SET A 10K PR...KNOCKING OFF GOAL #1 FOR 2009! Very good run for me, especially considering I've been fighting off a cold/flu bug the last couple of weeks. I started at a good pace and kept it up throughout the race. The hills/wind probably made me slow down a bit, but I was able to pick it up again when it flattened out again. Around mile 5 I had to stop and tie my shoe, which probably cost me a few seconds.
What would you do differently?:

TIE MY SHOE BETTER! I don't know what happened, I thought it was a good double-knot, but who knows. I was also itching for bathroom break about halfway through. Thought I went twice before the race, but I guess that wasn't enough. Overall, I think I performed to my potential today so there isn't much to do differently except from training more to get faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the post-run area.

Event comments:

Overall, I think the Rodeo Run is a good race with lots of participation. The run is the start of the official Rodeo Parade, which means there were a decent amount of spectators. The only complaint I could offer is that the post-race organization was a bit chaotic. It wasn't clear where to go for water/food/goodies/etc. I guess the size of the event (over 10,000) makes it difficult, but big signs would have been a big help to direct traffic.

Overall: 2330/4605
Performance: Good
Course: The course is a point-to-point course that weaved through downtown Houston before heading north into the Heights before it turned around and ended near the baseball stadium. It's a pretty good course, but there is a large elevated section of road that introduces some good climbing hills.
