Overcast
Total Time = 1h 23m
Overall Rank = 199/424
Age Group = 40 plus Clydes
Age Group Rank = 5/15
Pre-race routine:

same up at 4:30 breakfast - protein shake and toast, loaded up with the wife and we headed out by 5:15
Event warmup:

Got to the site and set up - I had a very low swim number "24" due to the 25 yard pool I put a 4 minute time down - walked around to see if I knew anyone, saw Gary in the pool.
Swim
  • 1h 34m
  • 275 yards
  • 34m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

OK, first let me say I am a big fan of DA events - but the timing company, well sucks - they had a legal pad of paper writing down the start times with 7 seconds difference - there is no way I could swim 275 yards in 1 minute.

But - I felt great on the swim - I would say a 4:30 to 5:00 should be the time, passed one person and only got passed once.
What would you do differently?:

Get a timing company that knows what they are doing, this one is terrible.
Transition 1
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Long way to the mount line size I had a low number - you had to do a 90 degree turn to mount the bikes, not bad but could be better.
What would you do differently?:

None - lost my bike coming out of the pool - went to the second rack so I could have shaved some time off
Bike
  • 44h 25m
  • 13.2 miles
  • 0.30 mile/hr
Comments:

OK, everyone got this as a 13.2 mile course - DA has missed this one, the wind was OK but strong, it would push you to the side. Two spots had some head wind but it could have been worse.
What would you do differently?:

Practice, this was the first race of the year for me,
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

OK, could have been faster - decided to go with socks, should have dumped them and shaved some time
What would you do differently?:

drop the socks
Run
  • 34m 59s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

Slow - been slowly working on the run, tried to keep the HR low but said screw that and kicked in the last mile
What would you do differently?:

Work on running
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, talked with some people

What limited your ability to perform faster:

practice

Event comments:

I would give this 5 stars but the timing issues really suck, the race results are late getting posted and writing down the times on a legal paid, well that is just bad.
