Swim
Comments: Started in second wave, at 6:34am. Air temp at start was 68, made the water feel good. Caught a really good draft to start, too bad the guy was horrible at navigation. We ended up WAY off course, and probably would have had a better swim time if not for that... What would you do differently?: Worry less about keeping a good draft and focus more on my line. Upon review of past Latta race reports, I am certain that this race should have been about 17mins but I went off course... Transition 1
Comments: Felt really light headed trying to put my bike shoes on... What would you do differently?: Make sure I have gels taped to bike, felt like I lost time messing with getting the Gel in my back pocket. This is a symptom of packing quickly two days ahead of time...normally would have had my gel tapped on (regardless of intent to use it or not) Bike
Comments: Keep working on bike... felt like the fatigue of the past few days really caught up with me for a while... finally pushed thru it about the time the bike was done. What would you do differently?: Need to learn to dig deeper on the bike...think I am too easy on myself out there... Transition 2
Comments: Long way to run mat signaling run start.. What would you do differently?: Not much...other than being faster off the bike and running with the bike. Transitions are something I do not normally practice, maybe it's time to throw a few transition practices into the mix...nah... Run
Comments: Mixed feelings about the new course... Overall good run, but need to work on my bricks. It took quite a bit of the run to feel my legs. What would you do differently?: Run harder Post race
Warm down: Beer, free beer and talking with good friends... What limited your ability to perform faster: Me. Event comments: Always a good time at Latta... Last updated: 2009-01-03 12:00 AM

Umm... got a ~2hr nap after flying in from Texas, that's all you need for race day, right? Not to mention only 6hrs the night before, so I totaled 8hrs over two days. Seriously arriving home at 2am with a 4:30am departure for race start, leaves the mind feeling a little fuddled.
Before leaving for race site wolfed down a bagel and 1/2 a banana, drank some coffee.
Getting transition setup, talking with Tommy, Keith, Dave N, Dave B, Heigel, Scott, and Alice. Got in the water for a bit of a swim... just to wake myself up some...
