Comments:

Big, wet snow started falling 20 minutes into the run. The temperature was cool, but not cold, until I finished.

I was trying to keep my pace under 9:00. I'm actually really pleased that I was able to meet that goal, considering the hills. Much of my running was in the 8:25 range.

I don't think I digested anything from the night before. Everything was sloshing around in my stomach by the end of mile 1. Gross!

Usually I find myself day dreaming during a run of this length, but I didn't notice that happening. I had about three runners that I was keeping track of to finish with. That worked out really well. I kept myself occupied thanking the many volunteers.
What would you do differently?:

Apparantly I ate too much the night before. Part of the digestion problem could have been from nerves, I suppose, but I think it would be more fair to blame it on the amount of food.

Post race
Warm down:

I was soaked when I finished. The kids were all soaked waiting for WenDee and me. We all went back to the van and tried to warm up before the kids' 5K started.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills! I need to run more hills.

Event comments:

In spite of the weather, there were plenty of residents standing on their porches, or even in their houses with a window open, cheering the runners on. Several people played boom boxes. There was a bag-pipe ensemble with an awesome drummer!

Performance: Good
Course: WOW! I had no idea the 10K course would be this hilly. It is a very challenging course. Large loop, no out and back! At the start you scoop down and up, running up toward the cathedral. They play the bells as the pack runs by. After a couple of blocks, the run course leads you straight up to the front of the capitol building. That is gorgeous! From there you wind around the streets, up and down hills, all the way across town. There is one really long climb as soon as you start heading back.
