Swim
Comments: The swim started as normal by getting kicked, punched and swum over, as usual I just took and tried to stay a float. I just kept on swimming trying to get to the next bouy, then the next. I made it the first turn and it went very well I was surprisenly going in almost a straight line. The I got to the next turn, not so good. Made the turn and just started to swim trying to get to the next bouy. I then was having troubles to get past another swimmer, I got kicked in the forhead quite hard by him. I tried so hard to get past him. I was finally able to pass him with about 300m or so to go. I was happy. I looked up and I was able to make the last turn to the beach with ease, very surprisenly. Made it to land without no cramps at all. I looked up at the clock as I was running to the transition and saw 39 minutes. Wow what an unbelievable swim I had . A 6 and a half minute p.r. I couldn't believe it. What would you do differently?: I don't know! Transition 1
Comments: Transition went well, except for getting my heel stuck again. What would you do differently?: I must practice taking my wet suit off more. Bike
Comments: A very good ride, I didn't think I was going to be riding since I had my rear wheel pop off at about 2k. I managed to save myself from crashing. Very scary moment, nothing worse than a crash. I have to thank myself for reacting fast. Other than that it went great. I had lots of water and had my gels before I needed them so I didn't bonk or cramp up. Something new to me. I had a lot of fun with the exception of the freezing rain at about 55k. I never felt as though I was getting too tired. Very happy with the ride. The course is fun and very challenging. What would you do differently?: Make sure everything is tight and the bike is ready to go. Transition 2
Comments: Made a mistake by un clipping my helmet too early, had to stop and clip it back up before I could go to my transition area. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: The run started out good. I stopped to go pee at about 6k and after that I didn't feel too great. I started to get light headed a little, I started to bonk. Immediatley I had two gels. It took bout 2k to get my self back to normal again. I started to focus on running. I foung a rythem and just though about finishing. Taking in gels, water and gatorade at every aid station This was definately the key to finishing strong. I was surprised to see that I ran under 40 miutes for the final 10k. I tried so hard to go under 5 hours, but I just could not run that fast. Oh well what a great run I had and a p.b. to go with it. What would you do differently?: More time training. Post race
Warm down: eat, drink, relax and cheer all my friends into the finish. Event comments: Nothing to comment on, It was a good day. Last updated: 2009-01-06 12:00 AM
