Swim
Comments: Passed several folks on the swim and one guy passed me but I ended up passing him on the last 100 as he ended up doing breaststrokes. The next part of the comment is not about me but Vapoly04. Watching her catch up to folks and pass them was awesome. This one guy stopped at the wall at the 200 meter point in front of her and without missing a beat her feet landed on the wall with his head in between them. I think he was in shock afterwards. What would you do differently?: I think I could have pushed myself more on this part. I was 1 second behind last year. Hard to do flip turns when several folks are hanging onto the edge of the pool. I think I will sandbag my time next year so I'm higher in the ranks. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: My friend Oliver was cheering me on but it was distracting. My googles were still on my wrist and I grabbed the race belt so I had to find a way to secure them on the bike. My time was better than last year. Bike
Comments: Roads were wet with puddles so this is where I lost time by not pushing as well as trying to figure out how to secure the additional stuff I brough along for the ride What would you do differently?: Focus and stick to the plan. I stopped to put on the race belt so I wouldn't lose it. Never stop once you get going. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: I think I did okay. Time was better this year. Run
Comments: Last year my legs were cramping at the end and this year they felt really good. I thought my lungs were going to explode at the beginning but legs held up nicely. My goal was to beat last year's time and I did by over a minute. What would you do differently?: I drank gatorade on the bike but I really wanted water on the run so drink more water on the bike and bypass the slowdown at the stations. I think I should have started sprinting sooner at the end. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to focus more while racing and get my head in the game. Event comments: Organization was better than last year except for having enough restrooms. By getting there early, I didn't have any issues but I felt bad for those waiting in the long lines. I know some missed their swim start because of it. I was happy to see Shelly123, Slake707, and 3558 at the finish line helping out the finishers and even better that I didn't hurl on them. Susan and my friend Oliver were there cheering me on and that was pretty cool. Last updated: 2009-01-07 12:00 AM

Walk up early 4:50 am because of t-storm thinking they may cancel. Since my swim start was not until 7:37, I decided to have a nice bowl of frosted mini wheats.
Ran for 5 minutes prior to swim.
