Swim
Comments: Good swim for me - even if only 250 meters. Placing was good, the only girls that beat me were girls, 17 and under club team swimmers :) I passed two and got passed by two. Good seeding. :13 faster than last year. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: I put on flip flops out of the pool this year.. Crocs work, not flip flops, I almost wiped out and lost about :10 or so. Good news is that I didn't sit down ;) What would you do differently?: no shoes or crocs. Bike
Comments: Excellent bike for me. Felt strong the entire time except for some catching in the throat from still being a little congested. I passed one girl ahead of me, (other than all the high schoolers in transition, first quarter mile of the bike), and didn't get passed by any. Saw a bunch of vamdbttcers, and got passed by Brad at mile 11. I took my shoes off right after - way too early, and tried to finish strong. Something went wrong on that last turn into transition and my feet slipped off the shoes and I lost a chance to do my flying dismount. Another :10 or so there. My feet were terribly numb, which was part of the slipping problem. My bike was almost 3 minutes faster than last year. The hills were easier if that makes any sense. More improvements to be made :) What would you do differently?: Clean up the transitions. Transition 2
Comments: The pavement again is such a pita. So painful. I tried to put my shoes on standing up and I almost fell over because the feet were numb and weren't allowing me to put the shoes on.. Ugh. So I sat down to get that foot in the shoe. What would you do differently?: Not sure. Run
Comments: For being sick, having to pee (ugh!), and not having as much confidence in my run lately, this run went REALLY well. I never felt bad, and got stronger as the run went on. I was leading the race up until the first mile or so, but could see that girl that passed me for the rest of the race and just focused on not letting her get away. The race winner passed me like I was standing still :) The course was def. short but I felt really strong. My feet lost the numbness by just before the finish. Bailey passed me right before the turn-around and told me that I was very stiff in the upperbody. Need to concentrate on this. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: A coughing fit directly after the finish :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Being sick, but I PR'd by over 4 minutes, so why complain about that! Event comments: Thanks to Ally and Dan for volunteering. This race is one of the best in the area. We know the RDs and they are awesome. VAMDBTTC did so well, as always. The biggest problem in this area is that there are too many good races in May. This one will always be on my calendar. Last updated: 2009-01-08 12:00 AM

Got up at 415, was super organized so the morning was pretty laid back. Cavavan'd over to the site with 3558. Arrived in the parking lot by 510 or so.
My transition area was pretty easy to setup, so I spent a bunch of time talking to everybody. And listening to the clydesdale who was a few racks over. Ridiculousness.
I had been sick all week so I had lower expectations for this race.
None.
