Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30am. Coffee, BB Clif Bar, Banana. Hopped in the car and drove from Lutz to St Pete. Joined group of Kingdom Builders. Eat a GU 30 mins before race.
Event warmup:

Jogged a little.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 1500 meters
  • / 100 meters
Comments:

Sucks that we could not swim but if you were there you would understand why they could not possibly keep track of us.
What would you do differently?:

Be a Pro.
Transition 1
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

Only 24 seconds off of Andy Potts T1 (har har).
Ran to bike, and joined 280 other people trying to get through T1.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 50s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Course was well managed. Very congested and too many people drafting. In some cases you could not help it.
What would you do differently?:

Since starting new job in Feb only had weekends and one day a week to train. Showed on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m 36s
Comments:

Much better than last year by one minute.
What would you do differently?:

Need to run sockless. Put shoes on standing up.
Run
  • 59m 50s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty happy with results considering training effort. This is second year doing Tri's. Listen to my HR this year finished with HR at 184 with max at 191 perfect for me.

Volunteers were excellent as usual.
What would you do differently?:

Train more for speed.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around spoke with Friends. Did massage thing on legs (very nice).
Ate pizza, cheered on others.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training. Need to schedule training to make it happen.
Would have broken my three hour mark by two minutes even with adding in addiontional 2 mins for T1 and lack of swimming advantage. Really wish we could have done the swim.

Event comments:

SA does a class A job. It was great to see Pros like Andy Pots and others. It also neat to meet people from all walks of life from all over the world who love to do this crazy sport.
