Swim
Comments: Nice swim. At first there was a bit of the swimming over people but I didn't get kicked/hit until over half way through the race. I was happy about that. I stayed on the correct side of the boats this time and decided I didn't need to swim to KY again. Got out of the water without panting and was not worn out at all. It was a bit slower than I can do but I wanted to do this one comfortably to see what that felt like. I got out between my wave and the one behind me but still in the midst of a lot of blue caps (my wave) What would you do differently?: Not a lot. I enjoyed the swim Transition 1
Comments: Chatted with another person at my rack as we were undressing. Grabbed bike with shoes on pedals and took off at a trot. Bike
Comments: Half the course was older asphalt with a mix of chipseal. YUCK! The other half was brand new pavement. WOOHOOO, that was nice. I was not out to prove anything, just screwing around and keeping a decent pace going. 20MPH in an OLY, that makes me happy! Considering last June was the first time I used clipless pedals and was averaging about 14 MPH for a 30 minute ride. What would you do differently?: Not a darned thing. I enjoyed this ride! Transition 2
Comments: I'm still putting socks on because I still have the B2B HIM in a month and I've not been barefoot for any runs over about 5K. What would you do differently?: Can't think of anything. Run
Comments: When I first entered the woods a root jumped up and grabbed my foot and I slammed down on my right side. That was not fun. I didn't realize the road rash was actually bleeding until after the run, though, so it didn't slow me down. My grass/dirt covered back was commented on during the whole run by different people, though. Back to the I cannot run and I doubt I'll ever get much better at it but I ran the whole way and held conversations during each portion of the run. I was just trying to run the whole run and not cramp up, not slosh around and look like I had a clue what I was doing. Note I did not say that I DID know what I was doing, just that I wanted to look like it. It got warm during the last loop but I never started a cramp and my tummy didn't feel sloshy. I think I got the hydration nailed on this one. Let's hope it's that well done for B2B. Oh, sit down for this one. I passed, not one, not two, but THREE people in my age group. I felt weird passing anyone, I'm not sure I've ever done that before. What would you do differently?: Not trip and slide on my side at the beginning of the run. At the end, perhaps, but not at the beginning. Post race
Warm down: Took off shoes and number and walked around in the lake. Sliced my foot on either a clam shell or a sharp rock so that was interesting trying to figure out when the heck I did that. Met another pilot, his watch gave him away :) What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm a lard ass, non running kinda guy. Any other questions? Event comments: I like this venue and setup events puts on a great race! I'll be back to an Anna tri once or twice next year again. Last updated: 2009-01-10 12:00 AM
