Age Group Rank = 8/20
Pre-race routine:

I couldn't sleep the night before, too excited for my first thriathlon.
Event warmup:

Just trying to calm my nerves. I had no idea what to do.
Swim
  • 16m 46s
  • 800 meters
  • 02m 06s / 100 meters
Comments:

First experience in a lake. I did a high head crawl the whole way. If I put my face in the water I freaked out. The lake was so clear too I wish I could have enjoyed it. Next time I will be more prepared and truely will enjoy the crisp feel of Lake Chelan it is beautiful.
What would you do differently?:

I would have swam in a lake before the race. Live and Learn.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

Good for my 1st ever transition. Next time I won't take the time to put socks on though.
What would you do differently?:

I wouldn't put socks on and next time I think I will take a bucket to sit on.
Bike
  • 46m 27s
  • 12.8 miles
  • 16.53 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall a good bike, I held enough back to run and didn't overdue it to bad on the hills. My bike is tempermental and it drops the chain very easily, I dropped it once which was upsetting. I should have been more prepared though.
What would you do differently?:

I would make sure I knew how to mount my bike and dismount better without affecting the other athletes.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
What would you do differently?:

get a drink.
Run
  • 29m 14s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs felt so heavy. I had to stop and walk a few times. Once I got going after about a mile my legs just went numb and after that it was just mind over matter. Once I turned the corner for home I knew I only had a mile and a half left and I could do that no matter what.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more at the transition and drink more at the aid stations. It got really really hot on that black top at the 2 mile mark.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

preparation.

Event comments:

This is an amazing course and I am excited to do it again this year.
