Well the pool wasn't very organized and I tried to warm-up a little. I definitely could have gotten a better warm-up in but it was ok. Took the beginning of the swim out at a smooth strong pace. I was able to hold it relatively well. It seemed to follow the path of all my old distance races back when I used to swim. I'd go out relatively quick the first 100 then settle into a consistent pace the rest of the race. Overall a good swim. I was hoping for a 9:00 but considering the lack of swimming the previous 2 weeks I'm happy with this.
What would you do differently?:

Keep my training going without the 2 week break before the race.

I took the bike out hard. I was really pushing it and actually felt much better than I thought I would. Got passed by a fair amount of people, as expected. Overall I think it went really well.

Train more before hand.

My run was horrible. There was a small flat and then it started uphill. The hill made my calves get extremely tight and I could barely take small steps. I started to overheat too so I unzipped my jersey and rolled my pant legs up. By the time I hit the aid station my legs had recovered and I was able to do quite well after that but The hill was just brutal on my calves. I had been hoping for around 25-26 minutes and instead went a lot slower.
