Pre-race routine:

got into bed a bit late. Slept somewhere between some and none. Up at 5am, ate breakfast of cheerios and yogurt smoothie; also finished off a Philly soft pretzel. Headed off to the race site about 6am. Much stress.
Event warmup:

Mostly consisted of everyone bitching and complaining about the canceled swim and standing in line for the porta potties.
Run
  • 18m 7s
  • 1.9 miles
  • 09m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Since it was no longer a triathlon I decided before the race started that all I cared about was the bike ride and that I was going to do everything else to maximized my bike effort. So, I took this run at a very comfortable pace.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

didn't rush at all; wanted to be ready to give the bike my all
Bike
  • 51m 13s
  • 17 miles
  • 19.92 mile/hr
Comments:

I had decided that I was here to bike this hard, with a goal of 20mph. There were several choke points and slower bikes were not keeping right, so it was sometimes tricky to navigate through. Still, I was passing everything in site! Didn't get passed by anyone until about 12 miles through. Overall I was passed by 3 women; unfortunately, 2 were in my AG

Missed my goal speed by less than 0.1mph! (probably lost it on the dismount and run across the timing mat)
What would you do differently?:

push it a teeny bit harder ;)
Transition 2
  • 02m 25s
Comments:

I simply didn't care to minimize my transitions today. I didn't laze around but I wasn't in much of a hurry either.
Run
  • 32m 28s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

my legs were totally trashed from the bike (and run1?) and this run was a real suffer fest. My goal was to not walk. Goal accomplished.

Loved the ice-soaked towels they were handing out at the water station!
Post race
Warm down:

walking around and trying to keep my legs from cramping; mostly unsuccessful with that. Ouch, I was hurting!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

changing the tri to a du; mentally giving up on doing a full race; trashing my legs on the ride.

Event comments:

logistics was a nightmare, beginning with trying to find the packet pickup area on Saturday and ending with their inability to control the crowd at the finish line. I will not be doing this race again.

I do have to say, however, that the post race Philly water ice and Philly soft pretzels were great.
