Bike
Comments: Working on my Ironman nutrition plan. Determined that I had way too many calories (sugar) at the 70 mile rest stop. By mile 80 my blood chemestry was fried, and at 90 I wanted to take a nap. What would you do differently?: Drink more water and thin the gatorade mix. Eat less when starving at mile 70 - especially no oatmeal cream pie on top of gels and Newtons. Too much sugar. Post race
Warm down: Crawl to the car. Try to choke down a burger and coke. What limited your ability to perform faster: Blood sugar spiked at 75 and crashed at 85, wound up dehydrated and nauseated by the finish. Really need to drink more water and thinned mix, with less solid, sweet food at the later rest stops. Event comments: love this race, and the course is beautiful. Great preparation for late summer/fall IM or 6-Gap rides. Last updated: 2009-01-12 12:00 AM
