Comments:

What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 2
  • 07m 16s
Comments:

This was terrible. I get into transition and rack my bike. I run to the changing tent and tell them my number so I can have my T2 bag. I am told it is not there. The guy looks around for a minute while I take off some of my bike stuff. He can't find it. I end up looking through about half the bags to finally find my bag. It had my stuff on it, but a different sticker on it. I lost several minutes here and got a little rattled.
What would you do differently?:

hope my T2 bag does not get lost
Run
  • 4h 52m 5s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

Overall it was fine. Many spots were flooded-so I ended up with wet feet pretty early on. Lap 1 felt good, lap 2 ok, lap 3 hurting a little, lap 4 I could not eat or drink anything but water. I needed fuel but could not take in anything. Made me slow a ton, but overall- did the marathon in under 5 and that was my other goal.
What would you do differently?:

Sunscreen! With the rain at the start of the race I did not think about sunscreen. Ended up with a sunburn, but you live and learn.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around- had a coke and talked with some family and friends that came out to the race. Went to Chipotle on the way to the hotel and sucked a burritto and chips down. Took a shower and went to sleep.

Event comments:

Weather was not great, but seemed like they did the best they could to still get the race off.
