Swim
Comments: Great swim, you can easily see the person ahead of you from 3 feet away!!! Transition 1
Comments: T1 was excellent. I took my time and got through it smoothly. Bike
Comments: I did well until mile 48. I didn't get enough fuel in me and so I wore out. I was trying to get one of the plastic water bottles from the aid station in my rear bottle cage while driving with my right hand and I somehow lost control and crashed at 19.8 mph. I got back on the bike after some assistance but I couldn't run afterwards. Had to get stitches in my elbow. Bike wasn't hurt, though!!! What would you do differently?: Definitely fuel more. In 92 degree weather, you can't get too much inside. It was certainly the root cause of my crash. Transition 2
Run
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough fuel. Event comments: I was rather disappointed with the post race activities (as compared to B2B Half). The medical personell were also a little incompetent and didn't know what to do with anything they had. I had to go to Elizebethtown's Urgent Care Center to get any kind of help and it took an hour for them to finish. They also had no energy drinks, just Pepsi and Mtn. Dew. However, the lake and the scenery are absolutely GORGEOUS and the bike/run courses are THE FLATTEST that I have ever seen anywhere!!!!!!! It's like TT heaven!!!! Bottom line: don't wreck, get sunstroke, or any other kind of ailment at this Half and you should enjoy it!! Last updated: 2009-01-19 12:00 AM
