Swim
Comments: Awful at the start. Could not catch breath and started to panic. Finally after about 200-300 meters I felt better. I could have pushed harder, but I did not know at the time. I cut my finger on a rock pretty good right at the end. This was the farthest open water swim, so navigation was tough. finally I was going thru 3 cycles of arm swings then a look and that seemed to work well What would you do differently?: Not panic off the start and not be afraid to push once I get my rhythm Transition 1
Comments: Strippers helped take the wetsuit off, which made it quick and easy. Transition was huge!! What would you do differently?: Nothing, thought I did well Bike
Comments: Headwind really took it out of my legs. the last hour and a half was in the face and it was all I could do to keep 16-17. Legs were cramping at the end something awful. Drank enough liquids, but think I depleted my salt. Ended up being a decent time, but left me in a world of hurt for the run What would you do differently?: Salt tablets and Sunscreen Transition 2
Comments: Had to sit and wait for cramps to go away. they did not, so I decided to go anyway What would you do differently?: Nothing I could do at that point Run
Comments: Thought it was good considering the cramping. Mentally was 100%. After about mile 3 I got the cramps to subside. What would you do differently?: I think I could cut 10-15 minutes off if I were not cramping Post race
Warm down: BEER and went to Garretts vehicle What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough salt Event comments: I heard others behind me had water station issues, but everything was great for me. For my first half, I thought it was a great experience Last updated: 2009-01-19 12:00 AM

Up at 4. Ate bagel, drank shake and had plenty of water. Went to the racesite to set up transition at 5:30
Decided to walk the 1 mile to the swim start. Ended up being perfectly timed by the time I got my wetsuit on, I had broken a sweat and was in the coral.
