Run
Comments: Let's see... there was a 5 minute gap between the time the gun went off and the point were Joan, Sue, and I actually got to the start line. The group was just moving really slow and we found ourselves weaving in and out of tons of people. I never got to go to the bathroom before the race, so my first priority was finding somewhere to go. We ran in silence for probably the first mile or so and then I found a potty at a water stop and they said they would walk and I could catch up. Well it took some good running to find them, but I did close to mile two. We kept up a solid pace of about 11 minute miles until mile three and then started run walking. The run went really fast as I was concerned with how my stomach was going to do, getting too hot from too many layers of clothing, and just the general chit chat going on. My parents were waiting just after mile 6 and they got some great pictures (to be posted soon). It seemed like we were in the run segment every time we hit a hill and my legs didn't start really bothering me until mile 8 or 9. Surprisingly it was my butt that was sore and getting tired from mile 5 on. My stomach did the first big flip flop around mile 9 or 10 and I cut back on the nutrition at that point. Everything was good and fine until just short of mile 12 when we turned a corner straight into a great headwind! Got passed by the women's marathon leader and her second place follower near Lambeau and decided it was time to run the whole thing in. Joan and Sue had to walk a bit in Lambeau but I got a good wind and picked it up running nice and solidly to the finish line. My parents missed my finish!! What would you do differently?: Not much... the run went very well... just what I was hoping for. I came in 8 minutes before I was hoping to. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, got some water, my finisher's medal, and some bagel and banana. My calfs started to cramp up and tried to keep them loose and get some more fluids in me. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much... this is where I am suppose to be training wise Event comments: This is always a fantastically run race. The excitement, training runs, and community spirit make this race a winner whether you run the 5K, half or full marathons. I would recommend it to anyone! Last updated: 2009-01-19 12:00 AM

Got up, went outside to see what the weather was going to be like, actually a lot warmer than I thought it was going to be. Had a breakfast cookie, a Diet Coke, got dressed, paced around the house, and made sure everything was set to go, while the family got ready. Got to Lambeau early and tried to stand in line for the port-o-potties and drop off my gear bag. Then met up with Joan and her sister Sue. Ran into Dan on my way over to the start line.
Does leaping over fences and gates count as a warm-up? There was a lot in the way between us and the road we needed to be on so we just did what we had to do to get to that line.
