Run
Comments: The humidity was about 95%, I was sweating while waiting in the coral for the start. The first three miles were very very hot for me, I tried to just maintain a steady pace. Walked the water stops, took 1 gatoraide and 1 water at each stop, walked until finished drinking and HR was down in the low 130's. I ran through some sprinklers at around mile 5 or 6. A very light rain hit around mile 8 or so, this was very helpful as the temp and humidity both dropped. Things weren't as bad, if not for the rain I might have switched and just run the half. The first half had tons of spectators, the second have was far less. Water stops were about every mile or so after the 3 mile mark. What would you do differently?: Pray for cooler, less humid weather. Post race
Warm down: Walked through to the end of the finishing corral, got my medal, found my wife, took a picture and walked back to the hotel. Didn't do much else, was just too hot and tired to really do much of anything. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weight, I actually gained about 5-8 lbs over the Holidays. Heat and Humidity which I'm not used to being from the Northern states. Event comments: This was a great race, the water stops were frequent and well manned, never had any trouble getting water and gatoraide. They offered other things but I didn't partake in any of the gels, oranges, or other items. The only thing I didn't like on the course were the open grate lift bridges, they seemed to be an easy spot to catch a toe and stumble if you weren't really careful going across them. Woke up at 5am, ate two Kashi Granola bars, drank some water.
Walked from Hotel to start line, about a mile, had to stand around at the start anyway. Most of warm up was the first few miles of the race.
