Pre-race routine:

had a lousy night sleep. Up before alarm clock. Got a bowl of fiber and yogurt. Took happy pills and advil. Got there with plenty of time for a 10:00 am start. Was told there had been some changes I would be starting at 10:40. Great I'll just stand around for extra hour. No I just OK. they tried to get me in earlier group but someone would have had to double up. I won't want to be double up so I begged out.
Event warmup:

Stand around. Took a lap or so in the pool.
Swim
  • 15m
  • 1025 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

I got what I trained for. I haven't been swimming so I'm off last years pace. I really hate the floating wall. Have a hard time judging the flip turn. besides that just plugged along.
What would you do differently?:

Train
Transition 1
  • 05m
Comments:

Went as fast as I could, but had to pee. Dam it. Got to bike with about 30 seconds to adjust. Height was good seat a little far forward. Do you think I could figure that out. Then it was go! What no 10 second count down.
What would you do differently?:

Not pee
Bike
  • 15m
  • 8.2 miles
  • 32.80 mile/hr
Comments:

Got her up to 33mph and tried my best to stay there. had to ask for water and towel that I left on floor. Forgot glasses. Oh well not going far. Remembered to bring coolmax head band. Did a good job keeping sweat out of eyes. Sweated buckets with no fans around.
What would you do differently?:

Move my ass faster in transition.
Transition 2
  • 05m
Comments:

What no coolers of water just Gatorade. Found the drinking fountain after the run.
What would you do differently?:

Bring a bottle of water in bag.
Run
  • 15m
  • 1.91 miles
  • 07m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

I was going to bring a watch to pace some but decided at last minute to run naked. The RD told to put my clothes back on. Dam the freedom was nice and nice to get out of wet tri shorts. Ok I'll leave the watch here. Had three gazelles in my group of eight. Two pushed right at the start. One behind me. Took about a 1/4 mile to get pace going. Nice running on a cushioned track. I pushed a good pace but forgot at the start to look at the clock on the wall. Wanted to How much make a mile before i got lapped. Made it 3/4 mile before the first gazelle got me. I encouraged everyone I passed and who passed me. The only thing I got was "How much longer?". Uh young kids. Passed a young kid who passed me in the start. That Felt good.
What would you do differently?:

Working on distance right now. next year I'll need to bring some speed up after the Freezeroo. Still a great pace for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked one time around track.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not swimming enough.

Event comments:

Good start to the season. I bested my bike and run. Had hoped to at least hit the the same on the swim. Shows me to stay focused on everything.

My legs are fried.
