Pre-race routine:

Got on the metro around 6:25, off at Metro Center around 7:01 and walked over to the mall. Crowded city - lines were sooo long for the porta-potties. I packed all my stuff into my bag, and then went to the potties on the other side of the mall, which worked out.

Made it into the blue-wave corral and stretched. I had a blue bib, but before the race I was considering seeding myself back because I think that was based on a previous 10k time (50:25) and I had no intentions on running that fast today. Really glad I stayed in the Blue Wave, the first few miles were spent trying to get around people. Would have been totally a disaster going back any further!
Event warmup:

Not much, stretched. Ate before I left the house - yogurt, and banana. I also had water and a little gatorade this morning.

Comments:

Splits: 9:02, 8:40, 8:41, 8:26, 8:13, 8:12, 8:10, 8:18, 8:28, 8:09 (random garmin added 285 feet for 23 seconds)

I had a ton of fun and felt great afterwards. This is a VERY fast pace for me, but it was perfect weather and conditions, so I pushed it a bit! I was going in expecting 1:3-1:35 given my fitness level, so I'm VERY happy to have made it under 1:30 by so much! Very proud of that last mile: 8:09! I was definitely slowing a bit in miles 8 and 9 (as you can see), so it was good to pick it up at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Turn off auto-pause! It messed me up in Chicago, and it messed me up (just a little bit) today!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked forever to find water (what was that about?), found my bag, and met up with Lisa!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not much - nearly perfect conditions. Crowded the first mile - maybe I shouldn't have put myself so far back in the blue corral (first mile was definitely my slowest - my only one above 9:00).

Event comments:

Expo was too crowded, and there weren't enough porta-potties and the water/food was way too far away at the end. BUT those are minor complaints - I loved the course, and it was literally the PERFECT day for a race!

My Garmin had a total of 1:24:46, so I was a bit off, probably because I accidently left auto-pause on and it paused while under the first few bridges and under the Kennedy Center. So that extra minute is spread over the first few miles.
Course: Perfect! Flat, beautiful, a few too many people, but that was A-OK.
