Run
Comments: Once the crowds started moving a little, I went out at about an 8:00 pace. The pace function on my garmin was jumping around, like always, so I switched over to average pace. From mile 2, I locked onto 8:06 pace, and it didn't change the whole race until the last mile or so. I'd go into an uphill and watch the ave. pace climb to about 8:09 or 8:10, and then on the downhill I would bring it back to 8:06. At about 5 miles in I though, maybe, just maybe I could keep this up the whole way. About 6 or 7 miles in, I started to feel the IT band. It wasn't much pain, but I knew it was there. I had a gu at mile 6 and another at mile 10. drank water and/or Gatorade at every aid station. Another Gu at mile 12, still holding 8:06, now I'm sure I can hold it. With 2 miles to go I picked it up just a little bit, and finished at 8:05 (according to Garmin) What would you do differently?: I would have been born in Kenya. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Event comments: I had a great time. Next year, I join the 2:00:00 club!!! Last updated: 2009-01-28 12:00 AM

Woke up a little late, so I was only able to eat two bananas for breakfast. Drove downtown, and there were a ton of people already there. Jen's 5k started at 7:30. I took Brooklyn to the finish line to watch jen finish. Jen met us, we traded off B and I ran to the start line.
AS soon as I got lined up near the 8:30 pace signs, it started to rain. Hard.
Not really any, other than a very slow jog down to the start line.
