Pre-race routine:

I am training for a half marathon so I ran 10 miles the day before. Had a light dinner of pasta an spinach the night before. Cereal and a banana for breakfast. Got to the venue an hour early, stretched and ran a little

Comments:

I ran hard for the first mile to get ahead so when I got to the single track I would not be behind slower runners. I ran negative splits until the last mile which was mostly very steep uphill. The course was fairly difficult but the trail was in better shape than I expected. Not too muddy, nice relatively sandy soil.
What would you do differently?:

With the snow earlier in the week, I did not run as much as I should have during the week. I ate pizza on Friday and Saturday, I should have eaten a more bland diet.
Post race
Warm down:

Good food after the race. I had a banana, gatorade and some oreos. Stretched my quads and calfs more than usual. With the steep uphills, they were pretty tight.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing

Event comments:

EX2 races are always well organized with great food. Lots of great raffle prizes at the end. Great group of people both volunteers, race organizers and participants. These are my favorite races to run. Great woodland to run through.
