Comments: Did really well for first 15 miles; kept between 10:05 and 10:15 pace. Right side IT band started to hurt around mile 15. Put Biofreeze on IT band and knees at every aid station thereafter, kept going pretty much until mile 23. Had to walk/run through last 5k, which really hurt my time. Missed my 4:45 goal by four minutes. But still took 49 minutes off of last year's time! What would you do differently?: Longer training runs Post race
Warm down: After getting medal, went to medical for Biofreeze and real ice. Laid down and stretched IT band and other muscles. Then walked Epcot. Had beer, bratwurst and pretzel at Germany!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: IT band issues. Event comments: Need to do another marathon to reach that 4:30 goal. I know I can do it, just need to train better for the longer distances. No more of this "20 miles is the longest distance you run before a marathon" crap! Last updated: 2009-01-30 12:00 AM
