Run
Comments: What a race. I have been away from racing for 2 years. In 2007 I finished Ironman Canada and then sat on the couch and gained 45 pounds. 12 weeks ago I decided it was time to get back up off my a$$ and race again. When I started running 12 weeks ago I was 20 pounds heavier and my long runs were at almost 12 min/mi. To run under 8 min/mi at this race is more then I could have ever hoped for. My original goal was to run this 8k in 50min. Then I beat that on a long run a few weeks ago. So I revised my goal to 44 min with a secret hope that I might be able to get in under 43 min. The race was an out and back. We got to the race a little late so I ended up spending the first k weaving in and out between people. It took about 2k for the course to thin out a bit. I made it to the turn around in 20:02 and thought I was going to blow up. I was way ahead of schedule and I didn't know if I could hold on. Well forget about that! I ran the second half 19:12. I could hardly believe when I finished that I had managed to run a negative split. Anyways it feels good to be back. I can't wait to start racing again next summer. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Went perfectly. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. I paced this perfect. Event comments: It feels amazing to race again :) Last updated: 2009-01-30 12:00 AM
