Pre-race routine:

Can of Ensure with 1/2 bagel and peanut butter 3 hours before race start.
Event warmup:

The walk from my place in line to the race start
Swim
  • 1h 16m 18s
  • 4224 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

Had a great swim, did run into the shallows before the first turn but not really a problem. Water temp was good, very cloudy but otherwise ok
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really
Transition 1
  • 08m 45s
Comments:

Lost my chip at the start of the bike and had to go back to the start tent to get a new one. Lost about 5 minutes which was reflected in the transition time.
What would you do differently?:

Took the chip off to put on the compression stockings, needed to make sure the chip strap was back on good and tight.
Bike
  • 5h 48m 33s
  • 112 miles
  • 19.28 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt really strong and good on the bike, in retrospect I possibly could have gone it a little easier to save more for the run but I really don't know.
What would you do differently?:

???
Transition 2
  • 03m 51s
Comments:

This went well. Didn't have to run with the bike as they racked it for us, very nice.
Run
  • 4h 33m 6s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 10m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Did not have much for the second half of the run. I think it was related to the limited training I got in after I injured my calf. I wore the compression stockings which really helped but my quads got really fatigued and the pain really got me in the end.
What would you do differently?:

Prevent pre-race injury
Post race
Warm down:

warm-down?????
I did walk over to the convention center and get some broth and a massage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Pain and fatigue in my lower back and legs

Event comments:

Since this is my first full Ironman I have limited experience to rate by, but I will say this city put forth an outstanding effort, the volunteers were great and things seemed very organized
