Overall Rank = 77/550
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 11/60
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, had a quick shower ate some oatmeal, bananna and some juice. Headed out the door shortly after.
Event warmup:

Runnning barefoot from transition to the natatorium..... ? No real warmup.
Swim
  • 05m 3s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 41s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was more organized than I thought it would be. Note to self: next time I do a pool swim I will put down a more accurate time. I put down 6:00 because I did not know that is how you would be started for the swim. Makes sense now though.

I got stuck at the wall at least 3 or 4 times by people hanging or blocking the crossover.
What would you do differently?:

Put down a proper swim time so I am seeded properly for the start.
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Feet were not working properly and it made it hard to get up to speed and get into my shoes and get clipped in.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I did the best I could based on the circumstances.
Bike
  • 38m 25s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.74 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was a little tougher than I thought. The water on the road felt like it was creating more drag on the tires.... maybe this is just in my head though.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

This transition worked out fairly well. I even put on some socks before putting on my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Run
  • 23m 44s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was ok, someone in front of me about 10 feet was almost taken out by a falling limb from a tree! Crazy stuff.

I got a little hot on the run as I was still wearing my wind breaker from the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little harder on the last mile.
Post race
Warm down:

Found my wife after the finish and waited for transition to open. My wife made me take her to the donut shop while we waited for transition to open back up. We had been smelling those donuts all morning.... and they were yummy too.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Definitely the crappy weather.

Event comments:

Good race overall. I enjoyed it and had a fun day. I will probably race this again next year. DSU put on a good event.
