Swim
Comments: Kept a pretty solid pace throughout. I didn't start off too fast... I felt like I couldn't go any faster or I'd start to really tap out. Transition 1
Comments: Could I have camped out any longer? Miserably cold and wet. It seemed like it took forever to get my long sleeve shirt and wind jacket on. I had to put on gloves and socks as well, which kept getting stuck on my wet skin. My T1 time had a major impact on my overall race time. What would you do differently?: I'm not sure there's anything else I could have done given the circumstances. I put on my sunglasses for a second, and then realized they were just all wet so I tossed them. The wind really didn't bother my contacts. Bike
Comments: I felt like I was walking up the hills. I just couldn't get my speed up to where it should be. The wet roads kept me going slow in the corners, and all the clothes just bogged me down (probably more psychologically). I also lost my stupid little yellow puff thingy for my aero drink about 5 mins into my ride, so my drink was splashing all over the place. What would you do differently?: More T.I.T.S... Transition 2
Comments: well... I stripped of my wet bike shoes and my socks were soaked. So I chose to run without socks so i could have some dryenss. I did this once before in training and got serious blisters.. this time, it was the best choice I made of the day. What would you do differently?: I should have left my wind jacket in transition. My long sleeve shirt was all I needed. Run
Comments: I thought I had a pretty good pace on the way back. I didn't really look at my watch to get my split times because I didn't want to see how bad I was doing. My time was right around where I thought it would be. I really wanted to be around 7:15/mile though. What would you do differently?: I couldn't have run any faster without tapping out. I think I had the best time on the back half. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around and chatted with some folks. Drank water and had 2 package bites. What limited your ability to perform faster: WEATHER Event comments: Overall... I think the race itself was well run, and one of the better DA managed events I've been to. Especially considering the weather. Some say that the weather affected folks evenly, but I feel some used it to their advantage by HTFUing through the race in minimal clothes. I thought they were nuts though. Got up at 4:00 to eat and take my time getting ready. I didn't have peanut butter, so I couldn't have my usual PB and banana sandwich. I had a clif bar about 40 minutes till start.
Miserably cold and wet. By far the worst race day conditions I've been in. Ran a little and swam 100 meters.
