Swim
Comments: the swim was a mass start, which was interesting to say the least...but things didn't go too bad. couple of bad gulps of air/water, but felt ok. sighting wasn't too much of a problem (first race without glasses) but i felt i was zigging and zagging pretty bad. overall tho, not a bad swim at all...actually ran up the 'ramp' to T1 directly behind a fellow masters swimmer What would you do differently?: learn to swim straight, and not have to sight every 3rd or 4th stroke Transition 1
Comments: first time with a wetsuit, that wasn't the problem...i guess practice can only help, but everytime i lug my bike pump in my jersey i dont get a flat, so its worth the extra seconds to not DNF my T1 time was really really slow, i finished 22nd and the next guy to have a 2 min+ T1 was like 50th...room for improvement Bike
Comments: i was debating on installing clip on aerobars for a week or so, and finally just did it...wow. i never averaged more than 20 mph in a race, and with the bars i was 21.22, hell yes! finally some improvement felt great on the course, but because i was new to the position i wasn't able to get a good amount of fluids down...this kinda hit during the run What would you do differently?: hydrate Transition 2
Comments: couldnt believe how fast this was...yanks on the shoes were a great help Run
Comments: ugh...HOT HOT HOT. i started great, but around the turn around i was way overheated. i kept asking for water and they kept giving me gatorade, i should ahve just stopped and gotten water, but didn't really think of that until later. all i wanted was a nice cup of water to dump on my head, but with only gatorade, i was getting really dehydrated. run felt like crap for miles 3-5 then i finally scored a nice cup of h2o, and finished it up. i know i am faster than a 42, so i cant wait to make up for this run in other races this season What would you do differently?: wear a t-shirt that says I DRINK WATER ONLY Post race
Warm down: drank water, ate bbq...yumm What limited your ability to perform faster: run, but i know i can do that faster, so im happy overall like i mentioned, 2nd tri ever (both olympics) but PR'd by 5 minutes, and my first tri's swim was in a river with the current...
