Swim
Comments: Keep swimming into and over people for the first 15 minutes. So I ended up swimming way to far to the outside of the buoys, and keep veering off course. Even with those problems I still almost made my goal time of 40 minutes. What would you do differently?: Need to practice sighting a lot more, and get more comfortable swimming in and around people. (Guess I am always afraid I will make hurt or bother someone by swimming into them) Transition 1
Comments: I was in no rush out of the water, was just happy that I did it in the time I did :-) All went smoothly, but nothing rushed. What would you do differently?: Move a little faster next time, and take in some nutrition before getting on the bike. Bike
Comments: The rain started not too long after I got on the bike, and it was a little heavy at times. All was going well until mile 42 when I got a flat. (my first flat EVER, and I have never changed one) Luckly I broke down to someone I knew and we both struggled to fix our flats. Someone from our tri group saw her, and stopped to help us, THANK GOD!! (he had his own flat earlier) Got up and running then had another flat 5 miles after. With no extra tube or CO2 I just rode the last 6 miles on the flat tire. What would you do differently?: Easy... LEARN HOW TO CHANGE A TIRE!! :-) Transition 2
Comments: Same as T1, and also took a quick bathroom stop. What would you do differently?: Same as T1, take in some nutrition before the run. Run
Comments: My legs were shot from the bike. (think riding with the flat didn't help) I was really short of breath after running 5 minutes and my legs were already sore. After 10 minutes my breathing leveled off, and got some gatorade, water and a banana at the first stop and my legs felt MUCH better. (just continued to do the same at ALL the water stops) Even with everything I still meet my run goal. I actually matched the same 1/2 mary time I ran in January, WOW. What would you do differently?: Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition! I didn't fuel enough for this race, and I need to practice it A LOT more. I could really tell the difference every time I fueled up on the run. Post race
Warm down: Once I cooled down it looked like I rolled around in the sane, but I was actually covered in salt. Talked to family and friends and had some food from the BBQ. (best ever, bc I was STARVING) What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition, and little practice fixing a flat. Event comments: Worst thing was the start of the bike. They actually stopped people from starting so they could let the traffic go through. Didn't happen to me, but I would have been pissed if I had to wait out of T1. Also I really didn't like the condition for the roads we road on. With the fast moving traffic we were forced to ride on the rough should at times. Last updated: 2009-02-11 12:00 AM

Woke up 4:30, had some cereal, a bagel, water and a banana. Got packed and got to the race site at 6 am. (it had been raining all morning, but stopped around 6:15) Got setup and ready with plenty of time to relax and get ready.
None, just walking around getting ready.
