Swim
Comments: Wow! What a swim course. We were really close to the reef. A lot of people suffered nicks and cuts. I started out pretty good, everything was fine until I turned left at the second bouy. I got forced to the left more than I wanted and ended up going even farther left to avoid some shallow reef. When I looked up to sight I saw the women heading straight for me! I managed to make it back to the beach with only minor scrapes. What would you do differently?: Not swim to the inside on the turn. Transition 1
Comments: I had a little trouble with my race belt, I couldn't get it buckled for some reason. I couldn't do a flying mount either, still gotta work on that. What would you do differently?: Practice the flying mount more. Bike
Comments: Something a little weird happened here. After I got up to speed and started putting my shoes on, I noticed that my gears were all screwed up. I was in the small chain ring up front and my 11 tooth in the rear. How the hell that happened, I have no idea. Once I corrected that I took off and started passing people to make up some time lost on the swim. I pressed hard but I wasn't maxed out, I was still a little burnt out from last weekends race. I was a little disappointed not to break 22 mph but what can you do. What would you do differently?: Double check gearing during setup. Transition 2
Comments: I think this went pretty well. Not my fastest, partly due to the thorny ground and partly due to rack position. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: I had a little trouble getting my run legs, but after about 1/2 a mile they were feeling ok. After my legs and lungs settled, I started picking people off. I think I could have ran a little harder, but I didn't really want to puke at the end :) On the way back in spotted Michelle/Happychick heading out, she was looking strong and had a big smile on her face :) What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder, but overall I was happy with my run. Post race
Warm down: Not much , walked around and chatted with Jason while we waited on other people to finish. Once everyone got in, most of the BT'rs got together and took a picture. What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe the reef and the ridiculous run from the beach to T1. Event comments: The lack of watering spots at the finish was a really bad call. The race director should have realized that one water cooler wasn't going to cut it. At the very least they could have filled up cups with water instead of having hot, tired and thirsty triathletes waiting in line for water. Last updated: 2009-02-12 12:00 AM

Woke up at around 4:45, made some coffee. After loading the bikes in the back of the truck, we headed up the road to the beach park. After parking we rode to transition and found our spots to set up.
Did a quick run up the road with a few strides thrown in.
