Total Time = 3h 07m 16s
Overall Rank = 1014/1398
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 123/150
Pre-race routine:

Arrive at 4 o'clock. Pump up tires, get marked and chipped, set up transition, head to swim start.
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 34m 56s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt good through the swim. Got a little off track, but focused on that a more towards the end. The first half of the race, the sighting was great.
What would you do differently?:

Keep focused the whole swim. Got off track in the middle 1/3 when I started getting a little tired. Didn't get much drafting in, which would have helped, it was murky enough I had trouble finding people to draft.
Transition 1
  • 03m 13s
Comments:

Wanted to get under 3 minutes. Best T1 so far, but need more practice.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transition
Bike
  • 1h 20m 22s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.55 mile/hr
Comments:

Lost one water bottle between transistion and mounting. Kept my pace down so I would have something left for the run. A little head wind on the way out and tail wind on the way back. Mostly flat.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure I have my water bottles strapped down.
Transition 2
  • 02m 51s
Comments:

Had trouble racking bike. Bike next to me was in backwards and got handlebars all messed up. No problems other than that.
What would you do differently?:

Blowtorch the bike next to me.
Run
  • 1h 05m 57s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

I didn't have enough left for the run. Achilles got tight and ended walking parts of the second half of the run.
What would you do differently?:

I could train better for the run, but I'd rather do a relay and have someone else run.
Post race
Warm down:

Ice cream, bananas, gatorade, water. Talked with team, friends, and family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The run.

Event comments:

It is run along with ITU so it is a world class event. Just about everything is taken care of. No protiens at the athlete recovery area and long massage wait time. That's not that big of a deal, everything else was great.
