Run
Comments: It wasn't a bad run for me, but I do feel that I could have done better by maybe 30-45 seconds or so. I watch battery was did but Big Peach did provide clocks at the mile markers. My first mile split was 6:34. Not bad, I wanted about a 6:25 but considering how long it took me to get out of the pack at the start I was ok with it. Second mile I came in at 12:54. After that I don't really remember my splits. I did feel a little thirsty throughout the race but never took water. I felt that I may have slowed a little between miles 3 and 4. What would you do differently?: Charge my Garmin battery the night before a race. I'd also put myself up a little farther in the front to start. And I would have liked to have known my time throughout to try and gage where I was so I'd be able to go under 40. I really can't complain though. I wanted a sub 42 PTRR qualifying time and I did so without my Garmin telling me my pace. I'll be hoping to run sub 40 at the SCT 10k in March. Post race
Warm down: Walked to the goody bag pick up and drank a Powerade Zero they were handing out. And walked back to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hydration the morning of was off because I wasn't sure how the point to point transportation system worked so I didn't bring my Nalgene. So, the hour before the race I really wasn't drinking anything. Event comments: This was a really enjoyable race. There were a ton of people there. They also had three bands along the course playing to keep you going which was really awesome. I'd never seen that before. The course was the fastest I had ever ran so it's a great place to set a PR. I will probably run it again next year. Last updated: 2009-02-17 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6 and tried to eat a bowl of Wheaties and a banana. I had dinner kind of late last night and wasn't really super hungry so I only ate about half of my cereal. Then I drove to the mall, parked, and waited outside in the cold to hop on a bus to take us to the start. On my way to the race I looked at my watch and the battery had died. That was pretty frustrating.
Ran around the start for about 10 minutes or so with a few race pace accelerations. Then I grabbed a cup of water and walked to the start.
