Age Group Rank = 5/70
Pre-race routine:

Shower, find clothes, doublecheck that race isn't canceled due to cold/snow. Wake up Ted to make coffee. Drive as fast as I can on snowpacked winding roads. Oh yeah, eat something.
Event warmup:

Jog on side road.
Run
  • 1h 51m 31s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 31s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

Train on straight roads rather than trails. Work on speed. Eat more breakfast. Negative split. Not drop FuelBelt bottle and have to go back for it; not miss garbage w/ empty Gu thingy and go back for it in spite of the homeless guy offering to get it for me -- that was at least 7 seconds right there. Woop it up more with the bystanders. Carry an airhorn so the ipoders can here me say "on your left".
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around looking for food since I left everything in the car; good thing because the food line got really long shortly thereafter. Mostly drank hot tea and hot chocolate to warm up. Chatted, of course.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Boredom, lack of speedwork, dislike of pain, tightening body parts.

Event comments:

Well organized, decent food & beverages, scenic if you didn't have to watch the trail for ice and snow, easy access to parking.
