Swim
Comments: 2 heats for my age group. Guys in my heat were fun, great comradely. Nobody really sprinted at the start. Liked that. Waves were hard for me and again I was tapped by a canoe person and directed back on course. This cost me a lot (it also cost some drafters) I had a hard time with traffic from middle to end of swim. I left way too much on the table for this swim. Next time I will go much harder all the way through. At the end I had a right calf cramp. I didn't really kick so I am not sure why this happend but it was a bad one What would you do differently?: Go hard all the way. I need to figure out why my calves are cramping after I swim. I am thinking not enough water and salt prior start and maybe I am pointing my toes too much while swimming Transition 1
Comments: Wet suit strippers were awesome! Still I am slow at transition. I thought I was pretty fast during the race. What would you do differently?: Need to work on this. I am losing too much in transition. The transition was huge and it felt pretty good so I am rating it average by my standards, which are slow Bike
Comments: Wow it was a full on storm. Rained like mad. I stayed in control on the bike. I backed myself down multiple times trying to save for my run. First HIM need to be able to run. Not knowing the course at all was a disadvantage. It was a fun ride all in all. The weather was extreme I've never been on a bike ride in weather like this. I totally dug that 1200 other people were doing it too. Need a drink just open your mouth. What would you do differently?: I had time to see some of the course prior to the race. I should have done that. I could have went harder and still been able to run. Calves were an issue that started after my swim. Why do they cramp when I swim? Transition 2
Comments: Long transition. I dried my feet and put on dry socks and took time to make sure my shoes and socks were on nice. My feet had no feeling in them so this was a little harder. What would you do differently?: Hurry up! Run
Comments: This was the part the scared me. It went well. Calves were threatening a strike but never did. Quads were fine. Actually was kind of fun. Never walked a step What would you do differently?: Run faster Post race
Warm down: Stretched and waited in line to sign up for Ironman Coer d'Alene What limited your ability to perform faster: I stayed conservative the whole race. I feel next time I can push harder at ever stage. Event comments: Ironman is awesome. I liked the loud speakers, music and all the people, great atmosphere. I was worried about nutrition. I followed the Hammer method and it worked great. Mixed my Perpetuem 2 scoops with a full bottle of water and added some enduralite powder, perfect Last updated: 2009-02-25 12:00 AM
