Swim
Comments: This is a two min improvement over last year, so am excited. The trip to the turnaround went fine and I kept the buoys close. Then all of the sudden I find myself at the middle turn buoy, not the first one I am supposed to go around. Crap, veer to the left to get around the buoy and make my way. Checked my watch at the 3rd turn bouy before heading back to shore and it was just under 10 minutes, so I was excited. For some reason I couldn't keep going straight. Veered a lot... even though the sun wasn't a problem or anything. Must have been getting tired. Made it back to the beach and short run up the sand. Transition 1
Comments: First you have to run through the park to the parking lot where transition is. My T area was right by the "swim in". Then the run from my area to the "bike out" was at least two blocks long. My actual transition was plenty fast and I ran more than usual along the way, so I'm satisfied. Several in my group went over 3 mins (and then some). 10/25 in AG. Bike
Comments: Yeah, this was a really boring course. I heard it was different from last year, but I don't know for sure. I honestly cannot remember it from last year, but I know that I record 2 hills in my RR last year and this year I would def say 3. I wish I really knew so I knew if my times compared. This was very close to the time I made last year, actually a few seconds slower, which is annoying since I now have a "better bike". Anyway... I passed a bunch of people and was passed a bit, including once by a big group. Nice. Big ring the whole way and I pushed as much as I could, so I am happy enough. Transition 2
Comments: I swear I wasn't actually at my spot for more than 45 secs. Bike in and run out were at the same end, as far as possible from my spot. 14/25 in AG - eh. What would you do differently?: GO FASTER Run
Comments: This was definitely the big highlight for me. I can't believe I'm having this much improvement in runs this year, but it's starting to look better for me. It was very sunny, but the cooler temps really helped. I walked a few times, but kept it to 30 secs max. I felt very good as I ran, MUCH less heavy and hurty than I did at Liberty. 5:30 improvement over last year!!! Post race
Warm down: Took a quick dip in the lake (cold!) and changed and had a wonderful BBQ with my BT friends. What a way to spend a morning! Event comments: Very nice race as usual. Check-in is fast, but body marking is a bit slow... I'd like to see a race with DIY marking. The weather was beautiful, which helps anything seem nice. Last updated: 2009-02-28 12:00 AM

At this point I just do the same stuff - banana, bagel, peanut butter, coffee, water. Drive to this event was about 1:15, so I planned to leave at 5:00. However, I was a little optimistic and made us late so we left at 5:30. Turned out to be plenty of time. I remembered the part of the 'hood I wanted to park in from last year, and ended up with a sweet spot only about 2 blocks from where my bike would be racked. Makes getting the cooler from the car later a lot easier!
