Comments: About 45 and cloudy. Wore my shorts, long sleeve shirt, Nikes and was a little warm. Was wanting to beat the time for my first/last half mary. Was running with my niece but she struggled some during mile 8 and 9, so I went on ahead at mile 10 so I could try to beat my time (which I did my 4 1/2 minutes - yeah!) Took a potty stop around mile 5, ate fruit leather around mile 6, took some sips of water every few miles, had a bite size Snickers some of the volunteers were handing out around mile 9. Felt really strong throughout the run, stronger than Memphis. What would you do differently?: Nothing, maybe wear a short sleeve shirt. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and waited for my niece and her friend to finish up. What limited your ability to perform faster: I could have broken off earlier but that wouldn't have been nearly as much fun! Event comments: Had a great time. Left Little Rock and drove to DeGray Lake Resort to spend Sunday night. Got up early Monday morning, drove to Hot Springs for a soak and massage which seems to have helped limit the soreness. Went down to the free continental breakfast at the hotel but ended up eating a granola bar and drinking a half a coke and half bottle of water. Took the shuttle over closer to the start and walked to the start line.
The walk to the start line was a good warmup.
