Swim
Comments: Overall very happy with my swim. I did not have any panic feeling the first 100 yards, so that was good. Time was a lot quicker than expected. I am not sure if that was due to a strong current or the course was shorter than prescribed. I wish the swim was in deeper water as there were a lot of people walking and my arm was hitting the bottom while swimming in a lot of areas. What would you do differently?: nothing; just keep practicing Transition 1
Comments: I felt like I was moving pretty quickly but by the looks of my times they were much slower than others What would you do differently?: Get more organized and move faster. Bike
Comments: Overall I could have done better on the bike. First of all I probably lost five minutes because I had to stop 2x to relieve myself at the refrshment stops (Over Hydrated). Also, I did not push as hard as I should have because I wanted to be fresh for the run. This was my second tri and the first one was a sprint, so I did not know what to expect of myself at this distance. Legs felt great getting off the bike. What would you do differently?: Pushed it a little harder and try to avoid pit stops while riding. Transition 2
Comments: Need to get quicker Run
Comments: I felt real good on the run. My legs were fresh. The goal was to maintain an 8 minute pace but I was feeling so good I scratched that plan and picked up the pace. I thought it could be a mistake for later in the race but the slow down never came in fact I could have pushed the pace even more. I really enjoyed the run as this is where I was making up a lot of ground. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: I ate a few pretzels, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and drank a bottle of water. Talked with a few people I know and some of the donkeys. Craig and company had a tent set-up and was taking a lot of photos. I got out of there rather quickly as I had to catch a flight to the UK that evening out of O'hare. What limited your ability to perform faster: Over hydrating on the bike. Event comments: This was a great race. It was very well organized and supported. The course was great with some great views on the swim and run portion. The race conditions were perfect - 65-70 degrees and overcast with no wind. I couldn't have asked for a better day. Overall very happy with my results. I was shooting for 5:15 and ended up at 4:51. Last updated: 2009-03-02 12:00 AM

I got up at 4:25 and out the door by 4:40. I drank a Boost and ate a Pro Bar and Banana on the drive down to Racine.
No warm-up needed. I had 70.3 miles to get warmed up and any warm-up would be nulified by the cold water.
