Pre-race routine:

Afternoon race -- went out, stayed up past 2:00 the night before and slept until 10:30! Rode bike to TX from car, registered and got set-up. Listened to race director's description and then headed to swim start.

Big wave start, lots of kicking and shoving. Temp was cold but OK once I got into groove. Also, oceans are salty.

Get more comfortable with ocean swims and drafting.

Getting into shoes on the bike was a bad idea! Start was all uphill and couldn't get in even after flat. Had to stop and put shoes on -- suck!
