Run
Comments: Started out too fast (7:36 first mile). I knew it and slowed down but the damage had been done. Decided to push it as long as possible to try to get to 1:20. The technical sections really slow things down so you have to push the flats. Fell at the 5 mi point and scrapped up the hands. Just didn't have any more in me. Satisfied with the race and time. Carried a bottle of acceleraid all the way. Dumped the last out at 9.5. Drank 2 glasses of water at the 6 and 8 mi aid stations. What would you do differently?: Train the weeks leading up to the race. Haven't been on a plan for a month and it showed. Weight was up and running fitness was down a little. Post race
Warm down: Walked around with Stacey and watched the kids on the play ground. I pushed the last mile fairly hard trying to catch a guy who out sprinted me in the end. HR stayed high (above 120) for 7-8 min What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training in the last month and my extra lbs. Time to get serious about my eating habits. Event comments: Great fajitas and golden ale. No drawing but that's not why I run it. Tech shirt is a good one. Last updated: 2009-03-04 12:00 AM

Woke at 6:35 did not feel like racing. 2 ensure and a little water at 7:20 too late but didn't have any gastro issues on the run thankfully.
Stacey dropped me at the park entrance and I jogged/walked the .70 to the start. HR jumped to 155 for the jogging portion. Light stretching and walk to the line. Timing mats at the start adjusted my plan to run the right side to the first turn. Still in the third row at the start but didn't get slowed down.
