Run
Comments: I felt good on the run and managed to pass about a dozen or so people, especially on the hills as I'm really good at climbing. The legs felt good, I planned on a 7:30 min/mi pace, but the legs took off on their own and ran about a 7 min/mi pace. I don't think it hurt as the legs were fueled, well rested and just wanted to go. What would you do differently?: I wouldn't do anything different, except keep training and get faster. Transition 1
Comments: Transition was pretty quick as our group was the last to start the race and I'm not the fastest, so the transition area was too crowded. This was my first transition for my first duathlon. I think I did well. What would you do differently?: I would keep practicing especially getting into the shoes and up to speed on the bike as I had a little trouble getting into them to begin with. Bike
Comments: Going down the other side of the hills was nice though as I hit 47 mph on one, and 44 mph coming down the other. Gotta love speed. I have only been riding for 2-3 months so, not to bad in my opinion. What would you do differently?: Just keep praticing so I can get better next year. Transition 2
Comments: This transition went great for me and I didn't have any hangups what so ever. Bike racked, helmet off, run shoes on and gone. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I think it went as well for me as it could have been. Run
Comments: My legs definitely didn't want to run after the bike, but about a third of the way through the final run, they stopped being stubborn and gave in to what I wanted them to do, which was run the pace I wanted. My pace was slow at first, but managed to pick it up for the last 2 miles. What would you do differently?: Keep training so I can get better and faster. Post race
Warm down: Walked around to cool off the legs and did a bit of stretching. Drank some fluids and ate some snacks. What limited your ability to perform faster: Quitting smoking 49 days before and I just need to keep training so I can get faster and better. Event comments: I don't really have much to compare this to as this is my first Duathlon ever. Last updated: 2009-03-10 12:00 AM

I doubled checked my gear, ate a banana, and washed it down with a sports drink/water mix. I talked a bit with the only two other Americans that were racing also.
I did a light job for about 5 min to get blood moving and muscles warm. Added in a bit of stretching to help loosen the claves and hamstrings.
