Swim
Comments: Maybe I just have to high of expetations but I didn't feel comfortable with the swim. I actually did the breast stroke on the way back for about 300 or 400 yards, however I did pass some folks while doing it. The breast stroke calms me down because I can see where I am going and breathing is easy. I don't think not getting to use he wetsuit hurt me all that much because I have only raced in it once. What would you do differently?: train more for the distance. Work on my stroke and navigating. I swim to the right way to much even when breathing bilaterally, which I try to do most of the time. Transition 1
Comments: I put a goo in my jersey for use later. I put socks on in this transition. The transition area was full of dead grass so I spent some time trying to get the grass off but then thought f*** it and just put my socks and shoes on and left. What would you do differently?: I couldn't get into my clips on the mount which killed my momentum. Well actually it just caused me to be in the way of others leaving transition and made me feel like an idiot. I guess practicing this transition would help my time. Bike
Comments: I felt really good on the ride. I did lose one of my water bottles, the one that actually had water in it. the other had HEED so it was still good. I noticed the skin burn from my swim in my armpits shortly after the transition. That kind of sucked but didn't really affect me until the run. What would you do differently?: Not sure. I could have rode slower to give me more energy for the run, but not sure if that would have bought me anything. Transition 2
Comments: This transition went well. I bought speed laces for my last race and this makes things so much faster. Run
Comments: I think I was on the edge of to much to drink. I took my goo at the second aid station. I ran the first 2 miles and had about an 8:45 pace going. Obviously to fast for me. Shortly there after I had to take walk break at all of the aid stations and added in some more short walks in the very small and far between shady spots. Really for having walked some I am not to unhappy with my pace. What would you do differently?: try to slow my pace. I am pretty much a one speed runner so this can be hard for me. I think part of it is I came out to fast from the transition. Post race
Warm down: cold water, fruit, pasta, found a shady place to sit down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just overall conditioning. I could have trained more for the swim and run. Event comments: It would have been nice to have gator aid at all of the stations. The packet pick-up was very confusing and they were out of my shirt size, which is crap for the price you pay for races. The best part of this race was the volunteers they were great and really worked hard to get you fluids. At one point someone had got out a hose to spray down those who wanted it. If the swim distance was truly wrong that is pretty lame. Not sure if I would do this one again. I didn't go to the post race Last updated: 2009-03-10 12:00 AM

Get up early enough to eat my granola, strawberries, and yogurt. Drink some coffee and water. I usually have some ibuprofin, but forgot for this race.
SEt up transition, stretch, evacuate bowels, stretch some more.
