Swim
Comments: I was bib #14 so I was the 14th person in the water. I'm pretty sure I passed all 13 people in front of me and then had 3-4 people come up and pass me before the end of the swim. I was a lot faster in the water than I expected, add onto that the 50 yards or more from getting out of the water until actually hitting transition and I'm very happy with the time I ended up with. What would you do differently?: Practice my sighting and swimming straight. Transition 1
Comments: I was the third or fourth person into transition a very interesting feeling to say the least. A lot faster that I thought I was going, felt like forever to get the wetsuit off. Overall pretty happy with transition but room for improvement. What would you do differently?: More practice getting the suit off. Bike
Comments: I felt great on the bike and was happy that I did over 20mph. Only disappointing thing was my chain hopping off the small ring when I downshifted. I'm not experienced enough to get it back on while still riding so I'm thinking this cost me around a minute to stop get off the bike stick the chain back on and then get back up to speed. Pretty sure I could have had a sub 40 bike split, not 100% sure I could have shaved off a 1:20 to get 1st in my ag or not for the bike. What would you do differently?: Ride more, gotta get better on those hills. Transition 2
Comments: I was pretty much in the same spot as T1 being the third or fourth person into transition, kinda cool. Felt a little clumsy trying to get the shoes on but I guess that will come with practice. Also the bike racks were a bit low so it took a bit of manuvering to get the bike back on the rack. Run
Comments: Bleh this was pretty crappy. After I got off the bike and started running my stomach was killing me. I've been having some digestion issues for the past few days and was hoping the Imodium I took before the race would cure that but unfortunately for the first mile and a half on the run it didn't work out too well and ended up stopping for a few steps to try and let the feelin subside. It was incredibly frustrating to have my legs feel prefectly capable and have my stomach say no way! Regardless I'm very excited to finish it under 24 minutes which was my original goal and actually a PR by 3 minutes. I'm happy with how it went, but after looking at my swim and bike rankings it's painfully clear where I can use the most improvement. What would you do differently?: I need to get in more miles. I didn't run enough in March and I ran even less in April so that's gotta change the next five weeks leading up to captex. Post race
Warm down: walked around looked for water and food but there wasn't much. What limited your ability to perform faster: Stomach problems and dropping the chain a mile before the end of the bike. Event comments: First Podium and hardware!!!!! I was pretty excited when I saw the timesheet that I came in 3rd for my AG and just as excited to be 28th overall. I definitely have room for improvement and can't wait to get back into the swing of training. 2nd place was 5:30 ahead of me so I doubt even without my issues that I could have snagged that but still super excited with the results I got. Overall great way to start the season. Last updated: 2009-03-10 12:00 AM

Woke up around 5am ate a banana and breakfast bar with some OJ. Threw the stuff in the car and put the bike on the rack and headed out for the 30min ish drive to the race.
Not much just set up transition and then stretched out a bit.
