Pre-race routine:

Stopped watching the weather, it was all bad news anyway. I cleaned the bike and packed up the car the night before. Got up at 4:30am and made breakfast. Bagel with Cream Cheese, Clif Bar, water. I ate half of that, then while I was hooking up my water bottles, the Dog ate the other half...Sigh.
Event warmup:

Warm-Up consisted of shivering while setting up my transition, and a light jog to get inside the natatorium. Did around 200m 25 min before actual race start. Not much more than that.
Swim
  • 05m 49s
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Estimated time for 300m was not correct. Wasn't even close. Sorry to all of those people that passed me or were stuck behind me. It won't happen again ;-)
What would you do differently?:

Actually do 300m for time. (Like everyone on this site says you should do)
Transition 1
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

Pretty quick for me overall. It was pretty chilly leaving the natatorium. Got a little hung up on one of my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Race when its sunny.
Bike
  • 49m 41s
  • 14.8 miles
  • 17.87 mile/hr
Comments:

Over all it was an average ride. I stayed hydrated by taking 2 drinks from my water bottle. That's right, 2 drinks. I tend to do this during Sprints. I am not sure why, I guess I just get caught up in racing. My stomach also became a little uneasy about halfway through the bike. Not to sure what that was all about. Might have something to do with the bowl of Goldfish I had right before bed. Not smart I know.
What would you do differently?:

Don't eat Goldfish
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

Forgot I was gonna take my feet out before I dismounted. Only practiced this a few times so I either forgot or I chickened out. Couldn't get one of my bike shoes off. The strap didn't slide open like it should. Probably cause it was wet, or maybe I was holding it closed.
What would you do differently?:

Actually take my feet out of my shoes like I planned.
Run
  • 30m 39s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 09m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Took me forever to get my legs. I had a weird abdominal cramp. Almost felt like my diaphragm was cramping. I was unable to take deep breaths. I decided to fight the pain until the first water stop and then walk a bit and access what was going on. Took some water and then walked about 20 steps and then everything started to loosen up. After that I was feeling pretty good.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. Train more?
Post race
Warm down:

Pizza and Endrox. Light stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The weather was a small factor. Should have warmed up more. Crazy cramp in my abdomen. Felt fatigued might be from the lack of training in the 2 weeks leading up to the race. I was also not training at very high effort levels.

Event comments:

The race went off without a hitch, especially considering the weather they had to deal with. The RD made big changes to the course and it seemed very clear to follow the new routes. It was pretty chilly at the end so people didn't hang out much. I would do this race again.

Course: Lots of nice rollers. They had to re-route the course due to the weather. Some of the roads were flooded or washed out. There was a surprising head wind that really was challenging. I took it really easy in the turns and on the back roads. Don't do a lot of riding in the weather so I was cautious.
