Swim
Comments: Good swim. Got off to a great start with several dolphin jumps into about a half dozen hard fast strokes. Then settled down to a good longer slower stroke. I had a good run at the buoys and ronded them very quickly. The only problem was that I got tangled in the trailing ropes and had to disentangle myself from the two outside ones. Didn't lose too much time but it may have been the difference between 4th and 3rd. What would you do differently?: nothing during the race Transition 1
Comments: Once again had somne trouble getting out of the wet suiit and into my riding gear. Aactually had difficulty putting on my number belt. What would you do differently?: Practice getting out of the wet suit and into shoes etc. Wear my number belt under the wet suit. Bike
Comments: Actually did better time than I thought I was doing. COuldnt seem to get my legs working well. Felt sloggish most of the ride. Very poor on the hills. I went into lower gears than I should have had to. Saw tow guys in my age group ride past me. What would you do differently?: I did not train enough over the last month before the event and especially over the two weeks before. Legs did not repsond as well as they should have up the hills. Train more consistently. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good transition. Can't think of much to improve here. No delays What would you do differently?: Practice the transiton a little more. Run
Comments: Couldn't seem to get my legs to loosen up. My right calf was very tight. Began to finally loosen up just before the first urn around. It probably helped that I was closing in on one of my age group guys who past me on the bike. The turnarond point was litterally that. Came off the turn and hit a great stride. Very comfrotabel and ate up the ground. Caught the second guy who had past me on the bike and that gave me my 3rd palce finish. What would you do differently?: Practice the brick more to be ready for it. Post race
Warm down: sat down, drank some water, walked around a bit then got some refreshment and food. watermellon grapes and a hot dog. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough consistent practice in the weeks leading up to the event. MIssed 2n place by 58 seconds and the guy who beat me for it gained 1:02 min on me in the run. If I could have gotten into a better pace earlier I could have run him down after the turn home. I'm sure. Event comments: third time at this race sight and it is one of the best organized and run events of any I have attended. Last updated: 2009-03-12 12:00 AM
