Run
Comments: 5ks are always tough when you training to go long. We started in the very back of the pack so when the race started, we basically walked for a few minutes before we could even think of running. I didn't care much about PRing this race so no big deal, but prob should have moved up in the pack a bit so as to get a better start. I immediately lost sight of Ian and Dave. Assumed they were both behind me, but in mile 3 I came up behind Ian! I ran silently behind him for a few minutes til I saw the finish. Then I tapped his shoulder and challenged him to sprint the finish line. He took off before I could even put my next foot down! Beat me by about 15 seconds :). Dave came in about 31 minutes which was great for him, but they ran out of glasses by then! What would you do differently?: Seed myself a little better in the pack. Post race
Warm down: A huge traffic jam once again at the finish in the shute. Just couldn't even move. People trying to get water and goodie bags all in the same place right at the finish was a logistical nightmare. Hopefully they'll rethink that for next year. What limited your ability to perform faster: The crowd limited my ability to perform faster for sure. I don't think I would have PRd today, but prob could have kept it under 26 if hadn't had to fight through the crowd. Event comments: Fun race for St. Paddy's Day. The field was huge this year which means you just have to try and have fun and not stress over time. This run is more about celebrating the Irish than about being an actual runner ;). Fun time and glad I got to run with husband and son. Last updated: 2009-03-12 12:00 AM

I rode my tri bike for an hour and twenty minutes pre-race at an easy, high cadence pace.
Some light jogging from the car to the start and then just standing around BSing with family and friends.
